Book 2 Ch.9 Web Site Publishing
The final step in web site development is publishing your site to the WWW. You can use programs such as FrontPage 2000, Dreamweaver or WS FTP Pro to publish your site.
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is used to transfer files between two computers.
You generally need two things to publish via FTP:
- The IP address or URL of the web server
- Username and password
With WS FTP Pro you transfer via FTP. The interface shows both the files on the server and on the local machine. To transfer files you either drag and drop or click the transfer buttons.
With FrontPage you can publish using FTP or HTTP. If you publish via HTTP the server must be equipped with the FrontPage server extension. In FrontPage you cannot copy one file at a time.
With Dreamweaver you can publish using FTP. Supports drag and drop.
