Ch.21 Images with JASC Paint Shop Pro
Paint Shop Pro is a popular graphic image-editing application produced by JASC. It is a paint-type program that translates images into bitmap files so you can manipulate the.
To create a new file, select File > New from the main menu, or press CTRL+N, assign desired dimensions and resolution.
Paint ShopPro supports floating palettes, that expand and retract when you need them.
To add text to an image, click the large A icon located on the Toolbar. If you want to move the text around within the image, you can check the Floating text box.
Special effects are applied using Filters. Special effects will increase file sizes. Effects are cumulative. Filter browser, Image > Filter Browser, helps speed browsing and previewing filters.
To decrease the number of colors used in your image choose Colors > Decrease Color, or by saving as a .gif.
Layers allows you to perform advanced image creation. A layer is a portion of a Paint Shop Pro image that can remain independent of other layers on the image. This feature allows you to move and merge shapes and objects on the canvas.
To create a transparent image you must remove the background color.
A screen capture is an exact replication of any screen display produced by an application program. Paint Shop Pro makes capturing screen displays simple, and you can choose from:
- Area
Captures the area of the screen specified by the user. - Full Screen
Captures the entire screen. - Client Area
Captures only the input area of the active window. - Window
Captures only the active window. - Object
Captures an object in the window, such as a group selection box, specified by the user.
