Homesite 4.5 is an advanced HTML editor with some WYSIWYG capabilities. Homesite automatically insert closing tags to match corresponding opening tags. You can insert tags by typing them, choosing them from a toolbar or selecting them from a tree-structured list.
Homesite offers a variety of templates, including the default template, to get you started.New templates can be created by saving any HTML document with the .hst file name extension, by choosing File > Save as Template from the main menu.
The Tags Menu on the menu bar provides quick access to the most commonly used tags. The tags menu allows you to:
- Open a dialog box to edit the current tag
- Create a blank opening or closing tag to fill (using Tag Insight)
- Find the matching opening or closing tag (CTRL+M)
- Repeat the last tag inserted
Any HTML tag can be inserted from the Tag Chooser, which you can open by clicking the option under Tools > Tag Chooser, or right-clicking in the editing window and selecting Insert Tag, or CTRL+E. Double clicking any tag in the right pane of the Chooser will insert that tag at the current cursor position.
The Tag Completion feature can speed the creation of HTML code and reduce code errors. This feature automatically adds a closing tag when you type a tag. Tag completion also offers a list of attributes that can be embedded in the code, dependent of the current tag the cursor is positioned in.
The Settings panel is called by typing F8. In this panel you can configure universally settings for the program.
